Dr. Laurence Bailen received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, followed by residency in internal medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He completed his gastroenterology fellowship at New England Medical Center. Upon completing his fellowship, Dr. Bailen joined the faculty at New England Medical Center where he specialized in inflammatory bowel disease and advanced endoscopy including endoscopic ultrasound and ERCP. He joined the faculty at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in 2003. He currently serves as Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and Medical Director of the GI Endoscopy Unit at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. Dr. Bailen continues to be an active participant in the educational curriculum at Tufts University School of Medicine, where he is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine and serves as Course Director for the Gastrointestinal System course. He is board-certified in gastroenterology.
